TRANSFERRING POWER: Principal Fr. Mathew Thengumpally handed over a `golden key' to Student Principal Sapna Raheem.
Thiruvananthapuram: Teachers took a day off at the Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School on Friday as students took over the show on the occasion of Students' Day. The day began with a morning assembly addressed by Student principal Sapna Raheem, who proposed the theme for this year's Students' Day, `Will India be Safe in Your Hands?' Principal Fr. Mathew Thengumpally handed over a `golden key' to Ms. Raheem, as a symbol of transfer of power. The day belonged to the students, as they handled classes and administrative duties with equal aplomb. The student teachers made the best use of the day and classes were in full swing as soon as the morning assembly was over. Some student teachers displayed a rare skill in taking classes as they explained concepts adeptly; some even managed to introduce a humorous vein in their lectures. At the end of the day, prizes were awarded to the best student teacher in each section.
