KOTTAYAM: Left Democratic Front convener Vaikom Viswan has welcomed the stance taken by the Supreme Court on the issue of the Kerala Professional Colleges Act. In a press note issued here on Friday, Mr Viswan said it was not factually correct to say that the Bill was against the minorities, as was being made out by certain quarters. The intention of the Government was to ensure professional education to all sections of society, he said. The Bill will adversely affect only those who commercialised education, he said adding that it was some of the commercially minded managements who were in the forefront of the propaganda against the State Government. Mr. Viswan said self-financing institutions were out of reach of the large majority of those belonging to the minority communities, though these institutions were run by their own communities.
