Staff Reporter
GUNTUR: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Guntur region will conduct a special drive at 50 important traffic generating points by deploying staff who will offer services to the commuters, said RTC Regional Manager G. Jaya Rao. The Corporation had taken this decision to increase the Occupancy Rate (OR) and Earnings Per Kilometre (EPK) that usually saw a downward trend during the months after June every year, he told reporters here on Thursday. The staff would make necessary announcements through the public address system and also would offer details of operation of various services though mobile phones, Mr. Rao said.
Online reservations
The online reservation counters were extended to all the important commercial and residential centres from where the buses were operating. "The passengers can utilize the service and book the tickets at their convenient location instead of coming all the way to the N.T.R.Bus Terminal in Guntur," Mr. Rao observed. The region had witnessed an increase in the occupancy rate and earnings per kilometre during the last three months.
Cash awards
The staff, including drivers, mechanics and supervisors, who were responsible for the increase in the earnings, was presented with cash awards. Ninety-seven employees, at the rate of eight employees per depot in the region were selected for the awards. Cash awards and appreciation letters were presented to the employees.
