CHANDIGARH: Cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, and hockey players Pargat Singh, Gagan Ajit Singh and Baljit Singh Dhillon are among the sportspersons chosen to receive the Maharaja Ranjit Singh award that will be given away at Zirkapur on July 15. Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh will give away the awards, including a cash incentive of Rs. one lakh each, to 122 sportspersons. The cash incentive for the highest sports award in Punjab was hiked from Rs. 21,000 to Rs. one lakh, according to the Punjab sports director, Pargat Singh. The game-wise break-up of award winners: athletics (21), wrestling (16), hockey (15), handball (10), basketball (8), cycling (8), judo (8), shooting (7), volleyball (6), weightlifting (5), boxing (4), cricket (4), gymnastics (3), badminton (2), equestrian (3), fencing (1) and table tennis (1).
