JEYPORE: The district administration in Koraput is geared up for relief operations in the flood-affected areas in 17 villages under Sadarang, Chandili Asana, Bansuli and Damanahandi gram panchayats that have been flooded by Suruli river, a tributary of Indravati.

Some 1,500 thatched houses have been damaged in Borigumma, Jeypore, Kotpad, Kundra and Boipariguda blocks under Jeypore sub-division and over 10,000 acres of paddy fields have been sand cast.

Those affected are taking shelter in panchayat offices and schools.
