Those arriving late for official meetings face disciplinary action

  • Officials told to prepare emergency plans to tackle floods
  • Relief and rescue teams to be constituted

Kakinada: Those coming late for the official review meetings at the Collectorate will be denied entry, according to East Godavari Collector M. Subrahmanyam.

The Collector gave this warning while expressing his unpleasantness over the officials coming late, one after the other, even half-an-hour after the commencement of the district level cyclone mitigation meeting here on Friday.

"Late comers will not be tolerated. One should keep away from such bad habit or else face disciplinary action," he cautioned them. He wanted all the department officials to be ready with emergency plans to tackle the floods and the cyclones during the current rainy season.

Pointing out that the district was having Godavari flood banks all along the 400-km coast line he wanted them to identify the flood banks that are weak and take steps to strengthen them on an emergency basis. He instructed the officials to keep all the VHF sets and community Radio sets in working condition and also constitute relief and rescue teams to move people to safer places in case of emergency. Besides, he wanted them to keep ready the required men and materials in the seven flood stores situated in different places.

The Collector instructed them to open control rooms that work round-the-clock soon after the second danger warning is received.

    C. Sudarsan Reddy, Joint Collector, Ilambarty, Assistant Collector, K. Sasidhar, Sub Collector Rajahmundry, M. Suryanarayana, DRO also attended the meeting.
