Centre sanctions Rs. 58.29 Cr. for roads in Orissa

Baalu approves 10 road improvement works


  • Rs. 2646.47 lakhs has been allocated for construction of Cuttack-Paradeep road
  • Rs. 332.32 lakhs sanctioned for construction of bridges over Bauli River
  • Widening and strengthening of many important roads proposed

    NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T. R. Baalu has approved 10 road improvement works under Central Road Fund (CRF) proposals in Orissa including Cuttack-Paradeep road at a total cost of about Rs. 58.29 crores.

    A sum of Rs. 2646.47 lakhs has been allocated for construction of Cuttack-Paradeep road (SH-12) with 10 m wide rigid pavement.

    Similarly, an allocation of Rs. 453.06 lakh has been granted for Improvement of Riding Quality of intermediate-lane carriageway from Km 12/750 to 26/300 of Nayagarh-Odagaon-Laukhal road of SH-21.While an expenditure of Rs. 167.86 lakhs has been approved for reconstruction of bridge over Singida Nallah at 23 km of Angul-Chhendipada-Sarapal-Budhapal road of SH-63, Rs. 400 lakhs would be spent on widening of existing single lane carriageway to intermediate lane carriageway with improvement of riding quality of km 9/0 to 19/500 of Gudiakateni-Hindol road.

    Construction of bridges

    Another road project envisages expenditure of Rs. 332.32 lakhs on construction of bridges over Bauli River at 12th and 14th km and construction of concrete pavement from 46/0-47/500 in a length of 900 m of Angul-Tikarapada road of SH-23 besides widening and strengthening of existing single lane carriageway to intermediate-lane carriageway with improvement of riding quality from km 51/980 to 55/440 of Sonepur-Binika-Rampur-Dungurapalli road at a cost of Rs. 229.66 lakh.

    Other projects

    The other projects approved are: reconstruction of HL Bridge over Panchama Nallah at 22nd km of Narsighpur-Balliput road (Rs.94.21 lakhs); for improvement of riding quality of existing intermediate-lane carriageway from km 0/0 to 29/0 of Moter-Jayapathan road (Rs. 465.52 lakh); and widening and strengthening of existing single lane carriageway to intermediate-lane carriageway with improvement of riding quality from km 23/700 to 34/200 of Sambalpur-Sonepur road of SH-15 (Rs. 540 lakhs) from km 31 to km 39/500 of Angul-Chendipada-Srpal-Budhapal road of SH-63 ( Rs. 500 lakhs).
