Government courting trouble: Poojary

Special Correspondent

Criticises Chief Minister for filing another petition against BMIC project

MANGALORE: The Supreme Court has already set aside the petition of the State Government on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. If the Government dares to approach the court with another petition, it will be in trouble, according to B. Janardhana Poojary, MP. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Poojary criticised Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and said their opposition to the BMIC project showed their "anti-people attitude." He also wanted the Centre to order an inquiry by the CBI into the issue.

He said the strictures issued by the Supreme Court in the BMIC case was sufficient for the Chief Minister and Mr. Deve Gowda to understand the gravity of the issue. He said the Congress would raise the issue in Parliament. The party would also organise block-level, taluk-level and district-level protest meets and rallies against the State Government's unwanted intervention in developmental works.

Mr. Poojary also demanded a CBI inquiry against Mr. Kumaraswamy and Minister for Forests C. Chennigappa on the allegation made by the BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy that they had collected Rs. 150 crore from mine owners in Bellary district.
