YSR asks Ministers to submit reports on poll show

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked his Cabinet colleagues to prepare reports on the party's performance in their respective districts in the local body elections.

The first cabinet meeting after the panchayat raj polls here on Friday saw Dr. Reddy explaining that the party had won on expected lines and blamed a section of the media for trying to portray that the party had weakened.

He advised his colleagues to learn lessons from the outcome of the polls and chalk out strategies to win the gram panchayat elections.

At the same time, he was understood to have asked them to analyse the reasons for the party's defeat in Adilabad, Anantapur and Ranga Reddy districts.

Mines Minister P. Sabita Reddy alleged that the Telugu Desam Party distributed money through SHG members. Ministers — D. Redya Naik, G. Vinod and Md. Ali Shabbir — were reported to have said that the delay in finalising the alliance with the TRS cost the party dearly in Telangana.
