HYDERABAD: In an important decision, the State Cabinet on Friday approved reforms in 30 public sector undertakings (PSUs), including the APSRTC, the Singareni Collieries and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIICL), and cooperative bodies in a phased manner till 2009. At a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Friday, it was decided to take up the third phase of the Andhra Pradesh Economic Restructuring Programme (APERP) in 10 PSUs, including the Andhra Pradesh State Trading Corporation Limited and the State Housing Corporation Limited, this year. Studies would be undertaken to recommend measures for potentially-viable enterprises to improve their performance through restructuring.
Study to be taken up
Accordingly, a study would be taken up in respect of the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Limited, the Mineral Development Corporation Limited, Thandava Cooperative Sugars Limited, Sri Vijayarama Gajapathi cooperative sugar factory, the State Minorities Finance Corporation Limited and the Andhra Pradesh Women's Cooperative Finance Corporation Limited this year. Next year, the restructuring process would cover the APIICL, the Tourism Development Corporation Limited, the State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited, Etikoppaka and Chodavaram Cooperative Sugar Factories, the Andhra Pradesh Geetha Parisramika Sahakara Arthika Sankshema Samastha Limited, the Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Tribes Cooperative Finance Corporation Limited, the Scheduled Castes Cooperative Finance Corporation Limited and the BC Cooperative Finance Corporation Limited.
SCCL listed for 2008-09
In 2008-09, the Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited and the SCCL are listed. Six milk producer companies such as the Vijayavisakha District Milk Producers Union Limited, Vizag, Nalgonda RR District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, Hayatnagar, Prakasam District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited and AP Dairy Development Cooperative Federation, Guntur, Karimnagar and Adilabad would be covered. In the cooperative category, reforms would be implemented in the Andhra Pradesh Girijan Cooperative Coffee Plantation Development Corporation Limited, the Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation Limited, the Washermen's Cooperative Societies Federation Limited and the Andhra Pradesh Nayee Brahmin Cooperative Societies Federation Limited.
