Results announced

VIJAYAWADA: NTR University of Health Sciences has announced results of those qualified in the entrance test conducted on June 21 for admission into D.M/M.CH (super-speciality) courses for the academic year 2006-07. Candidates seeking re-totalling have to apply on or before July 11, according to Registrar P. Jayakara Babu. He said the date of counselling for selections for admission into D.M/M.Ch courses would be notified separately. - Staff Reporter

Fee payment

HYDERABAD: The new engineering colleges set up at Sri Padmavathi Mahila Vishwa Vidyalayam in Tirupati and Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) in Anantapur this year will follow the fee structure of private colleges though they are university colleges. Students taken ill

KURNOOL: Children of Adi Andhra School at Arunjyothi Nagar in Adoni town fell sick after eating mid-day meal on Friday. Seventy students were rushed to the local hospital. Two of them were administered intravenous fluids while the rest were treated as outpatients. - Staff Reporter

Ex-serviceman held

Sangareddy: Ex-serviceman Afzal and his friend Govind Singh of Uttar Pradesh were held by the Kukunoorpalli police on Friday following an incident of firing and hurting one near Kodakandla. The duo arrived at the red light area near Kodakandla and asked for a girl and residents refused to concede to their demand. The two picked up a fight. - Staff Reporter

Tirupati doctor on NTRUHS board

TIRUPATI: Cipai Subramanyam, a Tirupati-based urologist and laparoscopic surgeon, has been nominated to the Executive Council of Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.

He was formerly the president of the Andhra Pradesh Private Nursing Homes Association (APNA).

Pig-rearers' charge denied

KURNOOL: Pig-rearers' in the city raised a hue and cry over the sudden death of scores of animals in the city on Friday. Over 70 pigs were found dead in Old City and New Bus Stand areas.

While Pig-rearers' allege that the animals were poisoned to death by the municipal staff, the authorities denied the charge.

Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner Somi Reddy said that pig-rearers' are placing high demands on shifting of the animals to the outskirts.

He denied the charge that the animals were poisoned. — Staff Reporter
