KARIMNAGAR: With no political party securing absolute majority to occupy the coveted Zilla Parishad chairman post in Karimnagar district, both the Congress and the TDP parties are leaving no stone unturned to secure ZP seat with the support of other parties. The Congress secured 22 ZPTCs and its allies TRS 6 while CPI got one, making for a total of 29 ZPTCs, the magic figure to secure the chairman post. On the other hand, TDP, which had emerged as the single largest party with 25 ZPTCs, has roped in the support of two BJP ZPTCs and also a lone independent ZPTC, who also happens to be a TDP rebel, making a total of 28 ZPTCs. Though, the Congress party had decided to allocate ZP vice-chairman's post and also co-option members to the TRS to secure its support to attain ZP chairman post, TRS had posed a fresh challenge before Congress demanding the chairman post for itself for a period of two-and-half years. However, Congress party has started holding hectic parleys with TRS high command to ensure that Karimnagar ZP was allocated to the Congress party alone. On the other hand, Congress had sent all its ZPTC members on a holiday trip to Visakhapatnam and other site-seeing regions in the north coastal Andhra.
Camping at capital
In the meantime, TDP had also shifted all its 25 ZPTC members from the district to camp in Hyderabad. The TDP leaders were also holding parleys to secure the support of at least two TRS ZPTCs to occupy the chairman post.
