Coaching centre

CHENNAI: The coaching cum guidance centre for SC/STs, under the Government of India, Ministry of Labour and Employment, will be conducting free training programmes in typewriting, shorthand, M.S. Office, computer diploma and Hindi translation for SC/ST candidates. The programmes are targeted for widening employment opportunities for them.

`Eight to Eight' banking service

The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has introduced `Eight to Eight' banking service. The bank will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It was introduced in its Anna Nagar branch on Thursday. The bank proposes to introduce the facility in some other branches in the city in a phased manner.

Bank upgrades branch

The Andhra Bank has upgraded its Thiru Seven Hills Polytechnic extension counter into a full -fledged branch, Maduravoyal branch. With this, the bank will have 55 branches, five extension counters and 15 ATMs in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The upgraded branch was inaugurated by M. Anjaneya Prasad, Deputy General Manager of the bank. B.S. Rama Rao, Assistant General Manager and other officials participated.

New president

The Rotary Club of Madras Northwest installed its new president T.T. Durairaj Kandiar recently. D. Rajendran, IAS, distributed scholarships to girl students. The club has entered into an agreement with Rotary president Rohan Irungalbandara, Rotary Club of Wattala, Sri Lanka for International Co-operation and joint projects.

Workshop on ancient values

`Guru Charana Smaranam'

Natya Manjari will celebrate the 80th birthday of Guru Udipi Lakshminarayan by organising `Guru Charana Smaranam,' a tribute to dance Guru Kanchipuram Ellappa Mudaliar, on Sunday, July 9, at the Rama Rao Kala Mantap, T. Nagar.

The students of Natya Manjari will present `Guru Aruley Thiru Arul,' a dance-drama, choreographed by Madhumathi Prakash.

Speak2Achieve

Speak2Achieve, soft skills academy is starting its 13th batch for `Present Yourself,' a course in communication skills for personal and professional growth.

The course begins on July 16. R. Nedumaran, former head of the Department of English, The American College, Madurai and founder-director, Speak2Achieve will be the key resource person.

The introductory seminar will be held on Sunday, July 9 a.m. at 10 a.m. at Vani Mahal (Mini Hall).
