Traditional handicrafts on display at Uttar Pradesh expo

CHENNAI: Craftsmen from Uttar Pradesh are displaying traditional handicrafts and handlooms at an exhibition at Sri Sankara Hall, Alwarpet.

Inaugurated by actor Devyani Rajakumaran on Wednesday, the `Uttar Pradesh Expo' showcased sheesham wood articles from Saharanpur and non-stick wooden items.

Besides terracotta items and jewellery, the expo also has a wide variety of textiles, including chikan work materials. Handloom lovers may also explore an array of items from other States, including those from Gujarat, Fulkari work, Kanta work dress materials and home linen. A discount of 20 per cent is being offered on all handlooms and 10 per cent on handicrafts at the expo organised by Uttar Pradesh Handlooms. The expo will be on till Monday between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
