KOCHI: The Kerala State Legal Services Authority has embarked on a project to provide 24-hour toll-free legal helpline services. It was launched on Friday by Justice V.K. Bali, Chief Justice of Kerala High Court. The aim is to provide legal assistance to citizens in distress, by bringing justice to the doorstep of the common man. The service can be availed of by dialling the toll-free number 98467 00100. Access to justice is the motto of KELSA. A group of committed and experienced legal professionals has been invited to join hands with the authority for the implementation of the project. A mobile phone handset with a toll-free number facility has been handed over to a legal professional from the authority's panel. It is accessible round-the-clock. The lawyer's role will be to give assistance to the caller by rendering suitable advise to tide over the situation. The lawyer's identity will not be revealed, for reasons of professional ethics. The number is accessible even from coin-box phones.
