Berlusconi to stand trial

MILAN: The former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, was ordered on Friday to stand trial following an investigation into alleged fraud in the sale of movie and television rights at Mediaset SpA, news agencies reported. Judge Fabio Paparella ordered Mr. Berlusconi to stand trial on charges of false accounting, embezzlement and tax fraud, the MF-Dow Jones news agency reported. The decision ``was predictable, typical of the sort of decision we have grown accustomed to from this court,'' Mr. Berlusconi's lawyer said after the ruling by the court. — AP
