Farmers to contest local body election

ERODE: Members of the Tamilaga Vivasayeegal Sangam will contest in the local body elections. This was unanimously resolved at the meeting of the Tamilaga Vivasayeegal Sangam (K. Chinnusamy gounder group) held here recently, presided by its president E.R. Kumarasamy.

The meeting while thanking the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for ordering the waiver of all cooperative crop loans, pleaded the waiver of loans borrowed by the farmers from the nationalised banks too. The meeting also appealed the Government to grant free electricity to the farmers those who obtained the power by remitting money under `Self Financing System'. Similarly the meeting of the Lower Bhavani Project Ryots Association, presided by its president C. Nallasamy, pleaded to provide free electricity to all farmers. The meeting also urged the district administration to order the release of water for irrigation in the LBP canal from August 15.
