Donaldo reaps a rich haul

MADURAI: P. Donaldo of SBOA MHSS won four golds (100m, 200m, long jump and shot put) in the junior boys' section, while P. Jeya Priyanka of St. Joseph's Girls HSS won three golds (100m, 200m and long jump) in the senior girls' section in the Madurai District schools athletics meet, organised by TVS Lakshmi MHSS Old Students Association, at the Madurai Police centenary stadium on Friday.

The results (winners):

Boys: Super seniors: 100 m: G. Ragasudhan (TVS LMHSS); 200m: G. Raja Sudhan; 400m: J. Jesin (Kendra Vidyalaya); 1500m: J. Jesin; Long jump: M. Ashik Rehman (Al. Ameer HSS); High jump: J. Harish Kumar (CSR); Shot put: S. Rama Rajan (Ponmeni MHSS); Discus: S. Virgin Augustine (Fatima MHSS); 4x100m: St. Britto HSS.

Seniors: 100m: A. Veerakumar (St. Britto); 200m: N. Praveenkumar (Don Bosco); 800m: G. Arulraj (St. Britto); Long jump: G. Prabhakaran (EBG MHSS).

High jump: J. Dominic Tagore (St. Britto); Shot put: P. Duraisamy (Sri Sundareshwara Vidyasala); Discus: P. Duraisamy; 4x100m: Don Bosco HSS.

Semifinalists spotted

Semifinalists were spotted at the E.Rm.E. Rengasamy memorial State-level inter-school basketball and volleyball tournaments organised by the Mahatma Montessori Matriculation HSS at Alagarkoil on Saturday.

The results: Basketball (quarterfinals): Perks MHSS, Coimbatore 49 (Guruprasad 22) bt American College HSS, Madurai 45 (Arulvel 15); Idayam Rajendran Residential School, Madurai 53 (Iyyanar 19, Ramakrishna 12) bt St. Mary's HSS, Madurai 37 (Srinivasan 15); St. Britto's HSS, Madurai 36 (Mani Bharathi 12) bt SBK HSS, Aruppukottai 14 (Joshua Paul 10).
