MOSCOW: Russia's natural gas monopoly Gazprom signed an agreement with the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) for joint exploration and development of onshore and offshore hydrocarbons in Gujarat. The agreement, signed during a visit to Russia by Chief Minister Narendra Modi this week, calls for establishing a joint working group to study opportunities for Gazprom's involvement in the growing oil and gas industry in Gujarat. Mr. Modi said he was very keen on Gazprom sharing its know-how with Indian personnel and providing HR training to them. GSPC and Gazprom will hold further talks later this month when a Gazprom delegation visits India for an annual meeting with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. The MoU identifies hydrocarbons, North-South Transport Corridor, shipbuilding, university education and tourism as main areas for bilateral cooperation between Gujarat and Astrakhan through 2011.
