Ramya remains in lead

VISAKHAPATNAM : Top seed I. Ramya Krishna of A.P. emerged as sole leader with six points from six rounds in the girls' section of the National sub-junior chess championship held at the Vaisakhi Jala Udyanavanam here on Sunday.

In the boys' section, B. Adhiban of A.P. was on top with 5.5 points after drawing with R. Ashwath. Adhiban held the upper hand in the initial stages but Ashwath bounced back to hold the top seed.

Second seed M.R. Lalith Babu suffered his second successive defeat after going down to Meghan Gupte of Maharashtra in the sixth round. S. Nitin of T.N. fought back from an inferior position to share a point with Anwesh Upadhyay of Orissa.

Ashwath, Anwesh, Nitin, S.J. Daklia and Aditya Vikas are in second place with five points each.

In the girls' section, Tejaswi, P. Laxmi Sahiti, N. Krithika (TN), P. Uthra (TN) and Dhyani Dave (Guj) are in second place with five points each. — Special Correspondent
