HYDERABAD : The State Election Commission (SEC) on Sunday issued notification for conduct of gram panchayat elections in three phases from July 29. State Election Commissioner A.V.S. Reddy and Secretary G. N. Rao said elections to 21,354 out of 21,807 gram panchayats and 2,13,482 wards would be conducted on July 29, August 2 and 6. The Returning Officers would re-issue notification in the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act on July 15 and the day on which the electoral rolls would also be displayed. The last date for filing of nominations is July 19 and scrutiny would be taken up the next day. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 23. The elections would be held on a non-party basis, Dr. Reddy said.
