CHENNAI: The thrill of capturing human emotions by movie or still camera invigorates several youngsters. But learning the craft of movie making or photography or the art of telling a story through a lens is a challenge. Visual communication course offered by institutions is one way to learn the craft. The course is attracting good talent these days because of the boom in movie making and in the entertainment industry. The expansion of the web media is also spurring the growth. Softview Visual Communication, a private provider, has announced its new course, which the company says is a diploma in visual communication and practical internships to provide real time knowledge of the medium. M. Antopeter, director, Softview, says the one-year course covers the fundamentals of visual communication, painting, print media, advertising, videography, photography and info architecture. Last year, students got the internship training in television channels and media houses. The course is bi-lingual to enable students to cater for the Tamil media. Students get hands-on training, contributing to the institute's Tamil e-magazine (www.tamilcinema.com) and bringing out a bi-lingual tabloid, `Vergal'. The course fee is s.75,000. This year's batch begins on July 17 and the last date for enrolment is July 11. The institute is at 117, Nelson Manickam Road, Choolaimedu, Chennai. For registration, call 044-4211 3535/98400-78699.
