KARIMNAGAR: Delay in the arrival of the monsoon has become a cause of concern for the farming community, as the kharif season is yet to begin in full swing in Karimnagar district. In June this year, against the normal rainfall of 151.2 mm, the district received only 87.5 mm, a deficit of 64 mm. On the other hand, in June 2005 the district received 149.4 mm rainfall, 530 mm (June 2004), 102 mm (2003), 103.9 mm (2002). Against the normal sowing of 4.88 lakh hectares, this year, because of deficit rainfall the sowing season is yet to begin on a full scale and so far sowing has been completed in only 1 lakh hectares of land.
