Man held on murder charges

Chennai: A 40-year-old man was arrested on charges of murdering his wife.

Police said Raju from Shenoy Nagar in Chetpet, beat his wife to death on Sunday morning, suspecting her of having an extramarital affair.

Anita (35), a nurse, suffered head injuries and later died.

In another case, the Sembium police arrested Saravana Kumar (25) and his father Senthivel from Vyasarpadi on Sunday on charges of dowry harassment.

Chitiraselvi (23) reportedly committed self-immolation on Saturday following an altercation with her husband, police said.

The duo was arrested after the completion of an RDO enquiry into the matter.
