Single-window system of counselling will continue till July 14

Coimbatore: Admissions to undergraduate courses in the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) began here on Sunday under the single-window system of counselling.

Counselling would go on till July 14. It had called biology students as per the cut-off marks from July 9 to 11. Students opting for engineering courses will have their turn on July 12.

The university would admit vocational stream students on July 13 and diploma students on July 14.

K. Vanangamudi, Dean (Agriculture), who led the admissions team, told The Hindu that the students would be admitted to seven undergraduate degree courses in the biology stream and three undergraduate degree courses in the engineering stream.

An Information Technology-oriented course, B.Tech. Bioinformatics, was being started this year.

Students admitted to various courses were asked to pay the prescribed fees and join by July 19.

If there were vacancies because of students deciding not to join by that date, there would be a second round of counselling on the basis of the cut-off marks.

The university was adopting the single-window system also for its affiliated colleges: Adi Parasakthi Agricultural College, Kalavai (private college, self-supporting courses in B.Sc. Agriculture and B.Sc.

Horticulture); and the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute, Karaikal (popularly known as PAJANCOA, Government institution, course in B.Sc. Agriculture).

Admissions to diploma courses in agriculture were being made under the single-window system this year for the first time. The courses were offered at C. Subramaniam Institute of Agriculture, Tindivanam; Ramakrishna Institute of Agriculture, Periyanaickenpalayam; Thanthai Rover Institute of Agriculture, Perambalur; and Sagayathottam Institute of Agriculture, Thakkolam.
