City students win their way to NASA

HYDERABAD:
A group of 12 students from various high schools in the twin cities has won over seven other teams from Asia and will now head straight to NASA.
The students had contested to represent Asia in the international finals of the prestigious space settlement design competition to be held at the Kennedy Space Centre, NASA.
The Hyderabad team, led by Vignan Pattamatta, impressed the international panel of judges with its proposed design, schedules and costs of colony in space, according to a press release.
The Commissionerate of Youth Services sanctioned Rs.19 lakhs to the space architects. The competition is held by the Aeronautical Society of India.
The Asian regional design contest is being sponsored by SERC, Department of Science and Technology, the CSIR and the Indian Air Force.
