Thiruvananthapuram: A 39-year-old General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) personnel hailing from the city was killed in a bus accident in which several pilgrims lost their lives near Uttarakashi in Uttaranchal on Saturday. The police identified the deceased as S. Radhakrishnan Nair of "Thirketta House," Netaji Nagar, Poojappura. He is survived by wife, Bindu, and daughters, Arathi. R. Nair and Athira. R. Nair. Mr. Nair had left for his workplace in Uttaranchal on Wednesday after attending his mother's funeral rites here. On reaching Haridwar, He took a bus carrying pilgrims bound for Uttarakashi on Saturday. His wife, Bindu, who is in Uttaranchal, came to know of the mishap only on Sunday. Since Bindu did not have enough money on her hand to bring Mr. Nair's body to his native place, her husband's relatives brought the matter to the notice of Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan. The Chief Minister contacted the Chief Secretary of Uttaranchal and asked him to make arrangements for transporting the body to New Delhi. The State Government will meet the expenses for bringing the body to Thiruvananthapuram. The body is scheduled to arrive at the airport here at 1 p.m. on Monday. Pannian Raveendran, MP, and V.
