CHENNAI: This competition was not for students but teachers of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. Under the `Education for all' programme, students are taught five subjects: Tamil, English, Maths, Science and Social Sciences. The State-level competition provided the 2.17 lakh teachers an opportunity to showcase their skills learned during their 20-day annual training programmes held across the State. Around 85,000 teachers participated in the competition. In the three elimination rounds, only 10 per cent of those who participated qualified. The final round was held on Friday and Saturday at Purasawakkam MCTM Boys Higher Secondary School. School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu gave away the awards to winners on Saturday.
