NCM summons education officials

New Delhi: The National Commission for Minorities has summoned top education officials of Delhi over complaints that there was no implementation by the Delhi administration of the Centrally-approved second language status for Punjabi and Urdu in the Capital. -Delhi's education secretary and the director of the education department here have been summoned to the NCM for a meeting with commission members Harcharan Singh Josh and Zoha Hasan on July 24.

In 2003, the Centre accepted a long-pending demand to designate Punjab and Urdu as second official languages of Delhi. -- PTI
