dated July 11, 1956: Nehru in Ireland

Prime Minister Nehru, on a holiday in Ireland, went walking on July 9 in the sleepy little village of Drumconrath of about 200 people. With the Prime Minister was Mr. D.E.T. Lindsay, proprietor of the Aclare House Hotel, where Mr. Nehru has come to relax for two days. The Prime Minister showed signs that the rest is doing him good and he is not as tired as when he arrived in Ireland last week. On his 40-mile drive from Dublin in one of President Sean T. O'Kelly's cars, the party outpaced a police car ordered to accompany Mr. Nehru discreetly. When the police arrived Mr. Nehru was standing on the hotel steps, laughing. "We got here first," he said. Aclare House Hotel is a large country mansion which has been converted into a hotel. It is surrounded by 600 acres of some of the best farming land in Ireland.
