BERLIN: Germany striker Miroslav Klose won the `adidas Golden Shoe' award for the leading scorer at the 2006 World Cup finals. Klose hit five goals in the tournament, two clear of eight players on three goals. The 28-year-old, who also netted five times in the 2002 finals, scored twice against both Costa Rica and Ecuador in the group games and headed the equaliser in the quarterfinal against Argentina, which the host won in a penalty shootout. His five goals are the lowest winning haul since the 1962 World Cup in Chile when six players scored four times. Eight players were tied with three goals, Argentina's Hernan Crespo took the second spot ahead of Brazil's Ronaldo having spent just 305 minutes on the pitch compared with 409 for `o Fenômeno', according to fifaworldcup.com. Ronaldo's three strikes helped him the move past German legend Gerd Muller to the top of the all-time FIFA World Cup scoring charts with 15 goals.
