CHENNAI: Aspiring medicos of the Madras Medical College are taking time off from their busy schedule to organise `Revivals 06', a five-day fiesta starting on July 12. Going by the massive plans, MMC is likely to be the perfect place to chill out. `Aqua' is the theme of the inter-college cultural. The college campus would adorn an aqua blue and green look, from backdrops to posters and venues will have names of oceans. Besides the fun in being a part of the carnival, students may win cash prizes worth up to Rs.1.15 lakh. Kicking off Wednesday's celebration would be `Masala Mix' that promises variety as teams are required to display as many talents as possible in 20 minutes. The two winners would be rewarded with Rs.12, 000 and Rs.6, 000 as prize money respectively. On Thursday, interesting events such as Tamil dumb charades, antakshari and shipwreck would be organised. There would also be events for budding painters and poets. The prime time event of this day would be `Light Music' when winners may bag cash awards worth Rs. 18,000. The cultural festival also has quiz contests on general knowledge and sports lined up for quiz wizards on Friday apart from events such as creative writing and rangoli for innovative minds. Some of the events not to be missed are `Footloose', a dancing competition that challenges contestants to dance for different tunes and `Choreo', a dance contest with cash award of Rs. 16,000 for the first place. Students and public may get ready for a treat on Saturday evening as playback singers--Srinivas, Tippu, Harini, Srilekha and Karthik--would perform at `Percussion', a light music concert at 6.30 p.m. Tickets priced at Rs.500 and Rs. 100 are available at places including Landmark in Spencer Plaza, Abirami Mega Mall and all Anjappar restaurants. The price is Rs.50 for students. The itinerary also has events such as singing, collage and `Tight Corners', when participants have to tackle a situation in a best possible way in a short period. `Rampfire', the fashion show, which is scheduled for the final day (Sunday) of the carnival, would be a crowd puller. Other events are essay contest and a quiz for medical students. And it is not all about entertainment. The carnival is interspersed with `Health Chat', a discussion with eminent doctors on various issues such as AIDS, Diabetes and adolescence. For details, contact K.K.
