CHENNAI: The Madras High Court will hear the anticipatory bail pleas of former Vice-Chancellor of Madras University P.T. Manoharan, his wife Kanagavalli and daughter Uma Selvakumar, on Tuesday. They have been arraigned as accused for the death of Madhu Devi, who married the Vice-Chancellor's son Naveenkumar in November 2000. Madhu Devi committed suicide on July 6, after leaving a note that she was tortured and subjected to cruelty by her in-laws and an actress. Meanwhile, advocate K. Abudu Kumar Rajarathinam has filed an intervener petition on behalf of D.K. Ganesh Babu, brother of Madhu Devi, opposing anticipatory bail to the Vice-Chancellor and his family members.
