New standard on accounting education released

CHENNAI:
The International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB), an independent organisation within the fold of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), has released IES 8, a new international education standard.
According to information posted by IFAC at its website, IES 8-Competence Requirements for Audit Professionals, will be effective from July 1, 2008. IFAC member bodies "will be expected to modify their policies and procedures to ensure that audit professionals meet the requirements of IES8," according to the announcement.
The new standard can be downloaded free-of-charge from the IFAC online bookstore at www.ifac.org/store.
