DU starts M.Phil admission process

NEW DELHI: Delhi University has started the admission process for M. Phil course in Chemistry. Interested students can get the prescribed application forms from the Department.

The details are available on Delhi University's website: www.du.ac.in. The last date for receipt of applications is July 31.

New law body chief

NEW DELHI: Senior Supreme Court lawyer Lalit Bhasin has been appointed president of the International Indian Bar Association (IIBA) for 2006-2007. He will take over from the outgoing president Navneet Chugh.

"Presidentship of IIBA is a privilege and a great honour. We will continue to work in the best interests of IIBA, its members and the Indian legal fraternity all over the world," said Mr. Basin in a statement on Monday.

Yoga treatment

NEW DELHI: Jalneti -- a traditional yogic kriya -- has now become an important component in treatment of patients with allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma and other lung problems with nasal and sinus symptoms.

Speaking at the Second North India Summit on Stress Management here over the weekend, Heart Care Foundation of India president K.K. Aggarwal said drainage from the nose and sinus could make rhinitis and asthma worse, especially at night. ``Nasal wash cleans mucous from the nose, cleans allergens and irritants, removes bacteria and viruses and decreases swelling in the nose and increases air flow."

Martyr's Day

NEW DELHI: Ati Vishnu Mahayagya Samiti -- a socio-religious body working for promotion of peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir - has decided to observe Martyr's Day, "Kargil Ke Shahid", on July 26 by organising an all-religious prayers meeting and also a mahayagya at Tiger Hill, Batra Top, Battalik Hill and Tololing Hill in Kargil.

Baby show

NEW DELHI: Mother's Pride organised a baby show at all its 11 branches across the Capital and the National Capital Region over the weekend.

The show was attended by a large number of babies who came in colourful dresses. A "Super Baby" was selected in each category. The little ones also bagged titles like "Sunniest Smile", "Curliest Hair", "Baby Friendly", "Most Sparkling Eyes" and "Chubby Cheeks".

Dowry complaint

NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a report from Delhi Police in an incident where a girl has accused an IFS probationer of demanding and accepting dowry.
