Commodity rates

The following were the rates (Rs. per kg) of essential commodities in local wholesale market on Saturday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce & Industry: Groundnut oil-53.50, Palmolein oil-43.25, Sunflower oil-50, Tamarind (flower variety)-30 to 39, Tamarind (karipuli variety)-44 to 51, Chillies (new) 35 to 45, Rice 2716-14, Rice super fine-15, Rice Sona Masuri-18 to 19, Samba-16, Black Gram (Pottu Minappappu)-41.70 and Red gram 23 to 28.

Stress on people's

participation

VMC Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar on Monday emphasised on people's participation in the development of the city. Participating in a programme organised by Vasavi Club (Vanitha), at Bhavanipuram, Mr. Gulzar advised people to form more residential committees to monitor developmental activities in their localities. Residential Committee members of Urmila Subba Rao Nagar, Rama Nagar and Netaji Public School participated.

The members of the club distributed homeo medicines for prevention Chikungunya.
