VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party SC Cell State President Varla Ramaiah and Urban Secretary Ch. Sripathi have taken strong objection to State Election Commissioner A.V.S. Reddy's remarks against the TDP in connection with the local body elections. Addressing a press conference on Monday, the TDP leaders said being the head of a constitutional body Mr. Reddy should have exercised restraint in passing objectionable statements against the main Opposition party in the State. "It is unfortunate that the SEC made personal comments against the TDP. His statements are not befitting the position of SEC," they added. Mr. Ramaiah asserted that as an established political party, the TDP had every right to voice its concerns and express its protest in its bid to fight for the public cause. "It is the duty of the SEC to conduct elections in a free and fair manner," they said.
