ISLAMABAD: Finance secretaries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation held a preparatory meeting on Monday, a day before the finance ministers of the seven-nation grouping meet to discuss the setting up of a regional poverty alleviation fund. India was represented by Additional Secretary in the Finance Ministry, Ashok Chawla at the discussions to finalise the agenda for the ministerial meeting. Minister of state for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal will represent India at Tuesday's meeting of ministers. The proposal for the poverty alleviation fund came at the 2005 Dhaka summit. The envisaged corpus of the fund is $300 million. India has already pledged to give the fund a third of this amount.
