GOOD SHOW: Students giving a performance at the annual prize day function of Bishop Cotton Boys' School.
BANGALORE: BNM Schools, Banashankari, conducted its investiture ceremony for the academic year 2006-07 recently. Ramakrishnaiah, education coordinator, South Zone - I, was the chief guest. The office-bearers promised to uphold the values and traditions set forth by the founders of BNM Schools and carry out their duties sincerely.
At NPS
The investiture ceremony at National Public School, Rajajinagar, marked the inauguration of co-curricular activities conducted by various associations of the school. The student government was officially constituted with the nomination of Nitin Kini as school prefect for boys and Apoorva Siddhi, school prefect for girls, for 2006-07. Captains, vice-captains, sports secretaries and other office-bearers were felicitated. Principal Santhamma Gopalkrishna congratulated the students, and urged them to demonstrate leadership qualities and be role models for others.
At East-West
The East-West School, Basavanagudi, held its investiture ceremony recently. Realising the inspiration that members of the school alumni can instil in students, the authorities invited one of them as the guest of honour on the occasion. Madhuri N. Gupta, who graduated from the school two years ago, inducted students as office-bearers of a 16-member student body. The office-bearers pledged to serve the school and students. The student body, headed by Madhumita, school captain, received badges from the guest of honour. Trustee Leela Ramanathan was present.
Awareness programme
RBANM's High School (Main), Gangadhara Chetty Road, conducted a kite-flying competition to create awareness of chikungunya. Twenty-two students participated in the competition and wrote messages on kites about mosquitoes and the use of mosquito coils/repellents. Headmaster Radhakrishna inaugurated the competition. Prizes were presented to 10 students.
Annual prize day
Bishop Cotton Boys' School conducted its annual prize day of the middle and senior sections at the school auditorium on Friday. Vincent Rajkumar, vice-chairman of the school, was the chief guest. Rani Rajkumar, principal, St. John's High School, presented prizes to meritorious students. Rev. Rajkumar spoke on leadership and qualities needed. He said there was a difference between acquiring knowledge and learning. "You acquire knowledge between the four walls of the classroom, while learning is a continuous process," he said. He advised the prize-winners not to rest on their laurels. Prizes were given away to the class and subject toppers. For the young achievers, it was joyous occasion, and they shared their happiness with their near and dear ones. Rishiraj Goenka received Bishop Cotton Boys' School Teachers' Award for academic excellence in the middle school, and Vijay S. Konnur the award for the best all-rounder in the same section. Karthik R. was given the Pope Medal for the best performance in the ICSE examination, and Raunaq M. Bathija received the Bishop Cotton Boys' School Teachers' Award for excellence in the 10th standard school examination. Avinash B. Amarnath was given the Abraham Memorial Prize for the best performance in the commerce section of the ISC examination. Shivam Dalmia received the Cotton Medal for "the best performance in the ISC examination in thanksgiving and admiration of the school patron, Bishop Cotton". Principal John Ellis welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. Vice-principal Mercy Jacobs read out the annual report of the school.
