HYDERABAD: Burglars took away gold ornaments weighing 50 tolas and Rs. 80,000 after breaking into two flats of an apartment building near Saibaba temple at Punjagutta on Monday.

The police suspect that the burglary might have been committed by the same offenders as in both the cases the latches of the main doors were broken.

K. Nagesh and E. Rajesh, close relatives, live with their families on the second and third floors of Dwaraka Avenue in Dwarakapuri Colony. Both work in private firms and have flower shops at the nearby Saibaba temple. They left for their offices in the morning while their family members went to the shops.

Around noon, Rajesh's wife Achyuta sent her maid Durga to clean the house. On seeing the lock of the main door broken, the servant rushed back and informed her employer. On coming to know about the burglary in her relative's house, Nagesh's wife Sreelata went running to her house only to see that it house too was burgled. The burglars decamped with Rs. 60,000 and 25 tolas of gold from Rajesh's house after breaking open the steel locker. However, none of the silver articles lying around was touched. They opened the wooden locker of the second house using a screwdriver. Watchman of the building Subba Rao said he saw three unidentified persons going up the staircase in the morning.
