NEW DELHI: The Capital might still be waiting anxiously for a heavy spell of rain, but the light showers so far have cooled the city down considerably. With the maximum temperature falling by 5 degrees Celsius, the respite from the heat is something that Delhiites are certainly welcoming. Bringing down the maximum temperature to 31.5 degrees Celsius, the rain has also cooled the evenings with the minimum temperature standing at 24.5 degrees C -- three degrees below normal. The beginning of the wet period for the Capital was a chance for people to take out their umbrellas. A great way to kick off the week, the cloud cover on Monday morning brought a lot of cheer to those travelling to office. "Tuesday will be a cloudy day. There could be thundershowers in some areas as well as heavy rain," said a Meteorological Department official. The Capital had received 30 mm of rainfall at Safdarjung by 5-30 p.m. on Monday.
