This Day That Age
Unveiling a portrait of Mr. K. Bhashyam in the premises of the Advocates' Association at the Madras High Court on July 10, Mr. P.V. Rajamannar, Chief Justice, said the occasion marked the completion of 50 years of practice at the Bar by Mr. Bhashyam in the course of which he had revealed great legal acumen, powerful advocacy and admirable resourcefulness. The select gathering included all the Judges of the High Court, Mr. M. Patanjali Sastri, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and Mr. R.E. Castell, Sheriff of Madras. Mr. V. L. Ethiraj, who presided, referred to Mr. Bhashyam as a great statesman, eminent lawyer, sound politician, and, above all, a perfect gentleman. He was outstanding in several branches of law, and had made valuable contribution to the separation of the Judiciary from the Executive. He was also an author and his commentary on the Negotiable Instruments Act was a very valuable contribution.
