Coimbatore: In an endeavour to take care of the health of its stakeholders, the Indian Oil Corporation, Irugur, organised a health awareness camp and medical check-up for truck drivers and cleaners recently. According to M. Annadurai, Terminal Manager, Irugur Depot, truck drivers and cleaners who are continuously at the wheel ignorant of health hazards and lacking time for proper health check-ups, are inviting danger to their health. Hence, the Indian Oil, as part of Sambandh (a community welfare programme), launched to mark the year as Customer Service Excellence year, organised a camp in association with Victoria Educational and Social Welfare Trust (VEST). VEST is an NGO in collaboration with US Aid involved in spreading the message of AIDS prevention in the State. A. Pandian, Deputy General Manager, (Operations), IOC, Tamil Nadu, inaugurated the programme followed by an audio-visual presentation by Director of VEST, S. Prabhu Das. A mobile exhibition on Sexually Transmitted Infection and AIDS was also organised. In the afternoon, the truck drivers and cleaners underwent counselling, free medical check and received free medicines.
