Workshop on hedging for textile mills
COIMBATORE:
The Southern India Mills' Association will organise a workshop here on "hedging mechanism through NCDEX" on July 15. The workshop would provide participants with expertise and knowledge to operate on commodity exchanges. According to a release, eminent speakers in the field, including P. H. Ravi Kumar, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, National Commodity and Derivative Exchange (NCDEX) Ltd., will address the gathering. The exchange has been trading in cotton for the last two years and the volume of cotton trade through it had steadily increased to about 16,000 bales a day during the peak season. Mills in the north have taken advantage of this facility and registered as members of the exchange. However, the concept is yet to catch on in the South.
