MindTree centre in Chennai

CHENNAI: MindTree Consulting, the Bangalore-headquartered IT and R&D services company, will be launching its software development centre in Chennai in August, according to the company's Chief Operating Officer, Subroto Bagchi.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Bagchi said MindTree's Chennai centre would be located at Olympia Technology Park at Guindy. It would have 150 people and the number would go up to 300 by the end of the current fiscal. Eveready Industries and the Khivraj Group developed the technology park.

MindTree planned to invest $30 million in Chennai to set up a campus that would seat 5,000 professionals. It was exploring the option of acquiring land for the proposed campus. At present, the company employes around 3,200 professionals.

He said the company proposed to have three more centres, one each in Bangalore, Chennai and Bhubaneswar.

In 2005-06, the company achieved a turnover of Rs. 460 crore ($102 million).
