Letters to the Editor
The failure of the GSLV- F02 launch is unfortunate. Earlier a GSLV launch was aborted at the last minute, because there was a problem with the strap-on boosters (L-40). It is not understandable why the scientists did not anticipate the recurrence of the problem. It is time for the ISRO community to pull up its socks and work with enthusiasm, overcoming the failure.
B. Vijaya Sarathy Priya,
The failure should not discourage us in any way as it is inevitable in such endeavours. Even a small mistake can lead to disasters. Mistakes have also occurred in countries that are much more advanced in space technology. One should remember that this was the first miss after 12 successful launch programmes conducted by ISRO since 1994, and is only the fifth failed mission since 1979.
Murali Jagannathan,
