Award for artisan

Jeya Cruz of Kanyakumari was awarded for his outstanding contribution for the popularity of coconut shell jewellery, at the 20th Surajkund Craft Mela held in New Delhi recently.

The Governor of Haryana presented the award to the artisan, who is also a recipient of Tamil Nadu State Award for the Best Craftsman for the year 1999-2000. Jeya Cruz had been producing over 250 coconut shell articles at the handicraft cottage industry.
