Folk dance plays an important role in providing a link to space and time and also expresses tradition and culture of the State. Women folk artistes from Rajasthan had displayed an eye-catching performance at the Public Information campaign cum exhibition, Info-expo held in Dindigul on Monday evening. Clad in colourful robes that identified their aesthetics and individuality, women artistes, highlighted the art, the culture and the tradition of Rajasthan. They communicated various ideas and emotions using their feet, hands, faces and eyes. With perfect choreography and subtle movements, they held the audience spellbound. Their scintillating presentation was supported by a group of musicians, who played traditional percussion instruments. The performance lasted for more than two hours and was enjoyed by all irrespective of language, race, theme and expression. These rural women proved that the dance had the power to retain the crowd.
