"SAVE OUR STRIPES": Schoolchildren form a human chain as they hold posters during a ``Save the Tiger'' rally near the India Gate in New Delhi on Tuesday.
NEW DELHI:
Schoolchildren participated in large numbers in a march at India Gate here on Tuesday to express their concern at the fast dwindling tiger population in the country.
Students, all members of Kids for Tigers under the Sanctuary Asia programme, gave a "Bagh Bachao, Bharat Bachao" call to the public. The march was attended by environmentalist Fateh Singh Rathod and Belinda Wright of the Wildlife Protection Society of India.
Madhu Bhatnagar of Shri Ram School and the mentor of Kids for Tigers said: "Today, the tiger is seeing its worst-ever crisis and children are no longer content to sit and watch this magnificent animal die. This silent march is a way of gathering support for our national animal and its habitat."
