Rupee declines further
MUMBAI:
The rupee continued to fall against the dollar due to increased dollar demand from corporates and oil PSUs and closed lower at 46.1650/1750.
In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market here, the Indian unit opened sharply lower against the dollar at 46.19/21 against the previous close of 46.1350/1450.
Later, it improved marginally and closed at 46.1650/1750, still lower than the previous close, according to dealers.
Dealers attributed the early weakness in the rupee to heavy dollar demand by both corporates and oil PSUs for import purpose. PTI
